We are aware that some of the couples referred to us travel long distances. This is an added expense and complexity, but in many cases this cannot be avoided. However, we are currently testing a new service with fertility units in Leeds and Sheffield. We have called this service satellite PGD.
Some couples may prefer to attend a centre nearer to their home and have at least the first few consultation and preparation work done locally. The first time that they will then travel to our centre would before egg collection.
The fertility units that we are working with are happy to receive referrals, but as this is a pilot service, it will need to be evaluated before it is offered on a larger scale.
